Vivian Green has never followed trends, so don’t expect to hear her trying to mimic any. The music is hers and Vivid, Green’s most recent release, is the kind of record you want to take with you on a road trip, to the gym, and to the office.
It is undoubtedly full of zeal. Born in Philadelphia Vivian Green was raised in a home where Motown classics were always blaring. She knew by age thirteen, that she wanted to sing professionally. She honed her craft at the piano everyday after school, writing mature love songs far beyond her years. Her mature, sultry voice and knowledge of material allowed her to sing in some of Philadelphia’s premiere jazz clubs despite her age.She also obtained a job singing with two of the top party orchestras in Philadelphia. Additionally, Green sang background for renowned soul singer/actress Jill Scott. Her debut album A Love Story released in 2002 and was certified Gold. It received rave reviews from People, Billboard, Rolling Stone, and USA Today to name a few. Her second album Vivian released in 2005 and produced Gotta Go Gotta Leave a no.1 AC/Dance hit. The New York Times called the album a “stellar sophomore performance.” Most recently she collaborated with jazz pianist Brian Culbertson for his album Dreams and produced the top 10 AC hit “Still Here.” The song also appeared on Vivian’s 4th album The Green Room.
Also appearing is Theodore Livingston aka Grand Wizzard Theodore is known worldwide for his role in the advancement of turntable manipulation having invented both the “scratch” and the “needle drop” techniques. Although Theodore is best known for creating the most essential technique in the hip-hop DJ art form there is so much more to know about this legendary DJ. Theodore was a member of the L Brothers and the Fantastic Five. Fans might remember the legendary basketball match, from the cult classic movie WildStyle, where Theodore, representing the Fantastic Five, squares off against DJ Charlie Chase of the Cold Crush Brothers. Theodore, like manyof the DJs of the time, was also a b-boy. The GrandWizzard continues to rock parties internationally, judge DJ battles and teach DJ master classes. He was inducted into the DMC Technics DJ Hall of Fame in 1998. Theodore has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from International Turntablist Federation (ITF) and is the 2001 recipient of The Source Magazine Pioneer Award. Most recently, GW Theodore embarked on a world tour with Kurtis Blow, Melle Mel and The Sugarhill Gang, called the Hip Hop No Profanity Tour.
