HW Pick: Star Of The Firehouse Kitchen TV Show Host NYPD Vs FDNY Cook Off

nypd-va-fdny-winnersThe New York Police Department (NYPD) and Fire Department of New York (FDNY) will participate in the “Battle of the Badges” cook-off on Sunday, September 18 from noon to 5 p.m. at Resorts World Casino New York City. A panel of 6 judges will include Melva Miller, Deputy Queens Borough President, representing Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, and Cedric Dew, Executive Director of the Jamaica YMCA, and George Lamond, singer and entertainer.

The cook-off will take place as a part of the 2nd Annual Queens South Community Day at Resorts World Casino New York City, with thousands of people expected to attend throughout the day.

A combined total of 21 participants from the three agencies are expected to participate in the cook-off. Ray Cooney, star of the television show Firehouse Kitchen and retired FDNY firefighter, will host the event. Grand-prize winners will receive a trophy in addition to $500 gift cards to Resorts World, P.C. Richards & Sons, and Key Food, with additional prizes for second- and third-place winners.

Community Day will also feature food and activities for all ages! A variety of tasty fare will be available to guests throughout the venue, which will feature a pizza truck, an ice cream truck, a cotton candy machine and a popcorn machine. Activities will include carnival games, face painting, inflatable bounce houses and rock climbing.
