HW Pick: Upfronts 2014, ABC’s Black-ish (First Look)

May 14, 2014

MARCUS SCRIBNER, TRACEE ELLIS ROSS, MARSAI MARTIN, ANTHONY ANDERSON, MILES BROWN, LAURENCE FISHBURNE, YARA SHAHIDIJust received this great e-mail from GetOnTheCouch.com’s about the new Upfronts 2014, ABC’s Black-ish (First Look) from ABC:

SHOW: Black-ish, comedy

WHO: Anthony Anderson (Guys With Kids), Tracee Ellis Ross (Girlfriends), Yara Shahidi (Scandal), recurring star Laurence Fishburne (Hannibal).

WHAT: A from Harlem to Hollywood story an upper-middle class black man struggles to raise his children with a sense of cultural identity despite constant contradictions and obstacles coming from his liberal wife, old-school father and his own assimilated, color-blind kids.

WHEN: Wednesdays at 9:30PM EST

WHERE: ABC

BOTTOM LINE: Who the hell knows? ABC’s publicity department doesn’t know how to cobble together a decent first look? I’m blown away with the randomness. That being said, I love Ross and am happy to see her getting work. Anderson is annoying, but always has been. It could do well bridging the gap between Modern Family and Nashville, but I don’t know… just depends on how Cosby-ish they decide to go.

blackishWhat do you think, gonna watch it?
