Join The Iris House 11th Annual Women As The Face Of AIDS Summit

iris house in harlem1The 11th Annual Women as the Face of AIDS Summit is on May 2nd, and we are really excited about the program that is lining up for you! This year’s theme, “The Race to the End” has inspired more than 20 presentations that will examine the intersections of race, poverty and HIV and look at new ways to End the Epidemic by 2020.

Registration is free and will open on March 14, 2016 on Iris House’s website.

Plenary sessions will be led by Maurice A. Lacey from The People’s Institute and Latoya Small and Jayson K. Jones from NYU’s McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research.

Breakout sessions include presentations from the Latino Commission on AIDS, Harlem United, The Well Project, BOOM!Health, Voces Latinas, Exponents, Inc., and a dozen other organizations and include multiple sessions this year on Latinas, transwomen, and PrEP.  The full program can be found here.

The day ends with a networking reception which will feature artwork produced by the Red, White & U HIV Anti-Stigma Campaign, including some amazing photos of members of the Iris House family.

On May 21, 2016, Iris House will present a community health fair on the plaza at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. New York State Office Building featuring more than 40 organizations and programs, HIV and Hepatitis C testing and a plethora of other testing and screening services.

The 11th Annual Women as the Face of AIDS Summit is made possible by the support of government, corporate and community partners including the Harlem New York City Council (Melissa Mark-Viverito, Speaker),ViiV Healthcare, OraSure Technologies, Gilead Sciences, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Health Education and Alternatives for Teens, Mount Sinai’s Insitute for Advanced Medicine, Kaleidoscope Collaborations, PhysiciansRX Pharmacies, Exponents, FPWA, the Tau Omega Charitable Trust Fund of Alpha Kappa Alpha, GMHC, God’s Love We Deliver, Village Care, The Well Project,the William F. You can also help by making a donation to help provide this event free of charge to women and men living with HIV: Iris House provides breakfast, lunch, snacks to all participants and transportation assistance to their clients attending this day.  A gift of $50 will cover the costs of one attendee.
