Curberd NY writes that designer Karim Rashid is known mostly for his colorful interiors, now he has unleashed some eye-popping exteriors in East Harlem with the help of developer HAP Investments. HAP has tapped Rashid to design a “diamond signature” building in East Harlem, an eight-story, 20-unit stack of what looks like plastic storage bins at 329 Pleasant Avenue.
NY YIMBY, who spotted the renderings, notes that this area of East Harlem is characterized by its impressive stock of prewar brownstones, all the better to make Rashid’s building really stand out, not that it would have needed any help.
There isn’t too much that we know about the apartments yet, other than the fact that they will clearly have large and colorful balconies, but this will certainly be one to keep our eye on – as if we couldn’t.
We love how the architecture blends into the neighborhood – not!
