“NYPD captured the deer after learning it was within a fenced off area in a residential development and posing a risk to public safety,” City Hall spokeswoman Natalie Grybauskas told source.” The deer was brought to Animal Care & Control. We do not intend to release the deer back into the busy and dense borough of Manhattan.”

An NYPD spokesman could not confirm details regarding the deer’s apprehension, but did acknowledge the deer was caught.

“You’re calling about the Deer?” an NYPD spokesman told source . “Don’t mess with the police.”

Harlem’s Bambi was seen vaulting a fence near the Polo Grounds Wednesday night by Pix11 in an effort to “greet his new neighbors.”

Some welcome.

The mild-mannered buck, which endeared itself to neighborhood locals, will be euthanized due to state regulations that make it illegal to transport a deer across county lines. State environmental laws currently prohibit trapping and relocating white-tailed deer for scientific purposes, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

The deer was initially spotted roaming in Jackie Robinson Park around Dec. 7. It was reported that the deer likely swam it’s way to Manhattan in search of food or a mate, but decided to stay in Jackie Robinson park once the locals started to feed it. The state conservation agency strongly advises people to not feed wildlife.
