It’s the winter of 1901, on a overcast Harlem day, with bare trees at Lenox Avenue and 126th Street with horses and wagons lined the street in New York.
The photographer stands in the street looking north (on the downtown side), as a trolley car comes towards us in the middle of Lenox Avenue. On the left horses and their wagons settle as they wait for their riders, as blurred horse and wagon come into view on the right and the dark residue from the horses laying in front of us on the cobblestone 126th street.
