Houses on these quaint mews rarely become available, but when they do, we definitely take notice—especially in the case of this 1,500-square-foot house on Sylvan Terrace, which is currently listed for $1.68 million.

The block-long street was once a carriage road leading to the Morris-Jumel Mansion, one of Manhattan’s oldest homes, and in the late 19th-century, lovely little wood-frame cottages were built on either side of the street. No. 19 is configured as a multi-family home, with a rental unit on the ground floor and an owner’s unit on the first and second floor.

Though the exterior still looks like it’s stuck in 1899, the interiors have been updated with stainless steel appliances and other mod cons.
