Lottery Opens For Below-Market East Harlem Apartments

Patch reports that a lottery for 124 below-market apartments in East Harlem is accepting applications until the end of May 2018. The apartment units are located in a new development on East 120th Street and First Avenue called Acacia Gardens, according to the city Housing Connect website.

The units up for grabs include studios for as little as $822 per month, one-bedroom units for as little as $882 per month, two-bedrooms for as little as $1,065 per month and three-bedroom units for as little as $1,224 per month.

The apartments are being offered at two levels of affordability. A majority of the units, 106 in total, are being offered for individuals and families earning 60 percent of the area median income and the remaining 18 units are being offered for individuals and families earning 100 percent of the area median income.

Individuals earning at least as $30,069 per year and families of up to six people earning at least $44,503 per year are eligible for apply for the 60 percent AMI units. Individuals earning at least $40,458 per year and families up to four earning at least $60,480 per year are eligible to apply for the 100 percent AMI units, according to the city Housing Connect website.

Prospective tenants may apply for the lottery through the city’s Housing Connect website. A mail-in application can be requested by sending a self-addressed envelope to: ACACIA Gardens, 413 East 120th Street, Room 305, New York, NY 10035.

Applications must be sent or postmarked by May 29, 2018.
