Man Climbs On NYPD Cruisers, Dances “Only In Harlem” (Video)

May 23, 2017

NY Daily News reports that hallucinating and incoherent, a 42-year old man hopped atop a NYPD cruiser not once, but twice — his antics attracting one million views on Facebook.

The emotionally disturbed man was eventually taken into custody by Emergency Services officers and admitted to Harlem Hospital for a psychiatric observation.

He was not charged, police said.

A three-minute video was posted shortly after the Friday afternoon incident.

The video shows the man, clad in shorts and a T-shirt, hopping atop the patrol car as it drives slowly through Adam Clayton Blvd. and W. 119th St.

“Only in Harlem,” the man taking the video can be heard saying.

The man, who appeared to be in his 30s, then climbed atop the car and spun around, angling himself in what appeared to be a surfer’s stance as the car stopped.

The officers inside, however, did not get out of the car, though after about 20 seconds he got off the car by stepping down onto the front windshield, then walking off.

The patrol car pulled over and the man approached it again — only to walk off in the other direction, scaring off a bicyclist before turning back towards the police car.

Moments later, a second patrol car shows up and the man hops atop a dark-colored car whose driver gets out, prompting the man to hop off and climb atop the second police car.

Six officers then surround the car.

“They’re about to shoot ‘em down,” the man taking the video says. “We got this one.”

The video ends right after that, shortly before ESU shows up.

Police said the man dented the roof of one of the patrol cars and cracked its windshield. The dark-colored car was not damaged.
