Man Dead In Washington Heights

Federal Judge Rules NYPD's Stop-and-Frisk Practice Violates RightsA 76-year-old man was struck by two vehicles and killed Friday evening in Washington Heights. Antonio Escanio was crossing Amsterdam Avenue between 155th and 156th streets in Harlem around 5:51 p.m. Friday, when he was struck by a white 2009 Toyota sport-utility vehicle headed south on Amsterdam Avenue, police said.

Escanio fell onto the northbound side of Amsterdam Avenue, where he was struck a second time by a Chevrolet Malibu, police said.

Escanio was found by police lying on the ground with head trauma. He was taken to NewYork Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Both drivers remained at the scene, police said. The investigation was ongoing Saturday morning.
