Man Jumps To Death From Columbia Building In Harlem

October 27, 2017

A man jumped to his death early Friday morning from a Harlem building owned by Columbia University, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

The 31-year-old leaped from the 10th floor of a building on Amsterdam Avenue between West 120th and 119th street, police told a source. He was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital and pronounced dead, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

The building the man jumped from is owned by Columbia University but the man was not a student at the Ivy League institution, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

The NYPD is investigating the man’s death but have reason to believe it is a suicide, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

The New York Post reported that the man jumped after an argument with his wife, but a police spokesman could not confirm that detail.
