Man Shot On Harlem Street Corner

February 6, 2018

Patch reports that a man was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries early Tuesday morning after being shot on a Harlem street corner, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The victim was walking with a group of people near the corner of Lenox Avenue and West 140th Street shortly before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday when the group was approached by an unknown man, police said. The man began to open fire and struck the victim twice, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The victim, who was not identified, suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen and left arm and was rushed to Harlem Hospital by EMS, police said.

The shooter fled the scene on foot and has not been arrested, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The shooting occurred across the street from the Savoy Park Apartments public housing complex and on the same corner that sports a mural of slain rapper Big L.
