Men Disguised As Public Housing Workers Rob East Harlem Man At Gunpoint

3534-16_23_pct_psa_2_12-07-16_photo-1481751409-6963Two men disguised themselves as public housing workers and forced their way into a 56-year-old man’s apartment in East Harlem’s Taft Houses.

The two disguised robbers knocked on the victim’s door around noon and claimed to be workers, police said. When the man opened the door the robbers forced their way inside, police told Patch. One of the men took out a firearm and struck the 56-year-old in the head, police said. The robbers fled the apartment with $500 cash and two cell phones, police said.

The robbery occurred in a building in the Taft Houses, a New York City Public Housing Authority building, on East 112th Street and Madison Avenue police said.

The victim of the robbery suffered a laceration above his left eye and was taken to Harlem Hospital for treatment, police said.

Police described the suspects as wearing work clothes and safety vests. One of the suspects stands 6-foot-1 and weighs around 290 pounds and the other stands 6-foot-2 and weighs around 140 pounds, police said.
