Mom Literally Gives Son Driving Crash Course In Harlem

May 27, 2017

A young man got a crash course in driving from his mom Friday — smashing her car into the side of a Harlem building while learning how to park, she said.

Jorge Stanley, 22, was simply moving the Toyota Camry from one side of the street to the other when the accident unfolded near 150th Street and Convent Avenue at about 10 a.m., according to his mother, Ramy Cabrera.

“His sneaker got stuck between the brake and the gas pedal and he couldn’t stop in time,” she told The Post. “He has a bigger-sized sneaker, and it got stuck.”

Stanley, who wears a size 12, wound up crashing his mom’s 2012 Toyota into the back of a parked car before careening off the road and into the corner of a nearby building, according to police.

Authorities attributed the accident to “driver inexperience” and let him go without a summons.

“He’s taking classes to get his driver’s license,” Cabrera explained. “He’s about to take the driver’s test. I told him he needed to practice his parking, so I told him to move the car from one side to the other.”

The mom and son were alone in the car, which was badly beaten up in the front.

Photos showed them sitting on the sidewalk afterwards — Stanley looking dejected as he holds his face in his hoodie while his mother inspects the damage. Two other people can be seen looking at the car, but it’s unclear what their relation is to Stanley or Cabrera.

No one was injured, according to police.

“We’re both OK, but my son is nervous,” Cabrera said. “We don’t know how this is going to affect his test.”

Stanley has so far attended ten driving classes — and had apparently never crashed before.
