Harlem has aptly been called “the best village in the world” by the BBC, and what NYC & Company’s said is the 2nd most requested place to visit by tourist after the Statue of Liberty! 

Since 2003 Harlem World Magazine, has created content about Harlem, now we bring Harlem history to life by offering walking tours of experience Harlem, led by HW senior arts & culture writer Walter Rutledge. Most tours last about two hours and proceed rain or shine.

Participants normally number between 10 and 15 people. If we do not reach the minimum required number of passengers on a tour it may be cancelled and you will be fully refunded.

Itinerary

Harlem’s Black History Walking Tour
African Americans migrated from the south to Harlem after the elevated railroad was built in the mid to late 1800′s. This Harlem tour talks about the old 125th Street Harlem Trolley Cars, visit the Harlem Armory home of the Harlem Hellfighters, and the spot church where Rev. Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Receives Coptic Cross From Haile Selassie At Abysinnian Baptist Church, and the historic Apollo Theatre on 125th Street. Followed by a talk with HW Arts and Culture contributor at one of the visited venues (use the HBHWT1 code)
