New York Is 2016’s 15th Worst State For Working Dads

east-harlem sliderWith Father’s Day approaching and nearly 93 percent of dads with kids younger than 18 in the labor force, the leading personal-finance website WalletHub conducted an in-depth analysis of the Best & Worst States for Working Dads.
In order to help dads balance their dual role as parent and provider, WalletHub analyzed the work-life balance, health conditions, financial well-being and child-rearing environments for working dads in the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. We did so using 20 key metrics, which range from day care quality to male life expectancy.

Working Dads in New York (1=Best; 25=Avg.):

  • 44th – Median Income for Families (Dad Present) with Kids Younger than 18 Years, Adjusted for Cost of Living
  • 34th – % of Kids Younger than 18 with Dad Present Living in Poverty
  • 30th – Unemployment Rate for Dads with Kids Younger than 18
  • 20th – Male Uninsured Rate
  • 34th – Mortality Rate due to Heart Disease per 100,000 Men
  • 44th – % of Men Who Report Adequate or Any Physical Activity
  • 49th – Child Care Costs (Adjusted for Median Income for Families – Dad Present)
  • 36th – Average Freshman Graduation Rate for Men
  • 49th – Average Commute Time for Men
  • 46th – Number of Prostate Cancer Cases per 100,000 Men
