Pop Up Art Installation And Watchtower Update In Harlem

c67490d6-5552-47a2-8e45-ae23b8ded925The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation would like to update the residents of East Harlem, Central Harlem and members of the Marcus Garvey Park Alliance and the Mount Morris Park Community Improvement Association about the restoration of the fire watchtower.

Join Artist Sarah Rowe up on the Acropolis in Marcus Garvey Park for a slide show of Sarah Rowe’s work that documents and pays tribute to culturally significant buildings and sites in Harlem. Composer Rohin Khemani’s original composition that was inspired by the bell sounds of the fire watchtower will be played. All attendees will be given an opportunity to create an artifact of the Acropolis using Sarah’s technique of pressing clay against any textures, forms, fissures or features of the Acropolis to create a permanent record.

On the Acropolis atop of Mount Morris in Marcus Garvey Park
You can access the Acropolis by using the stairs located on the Madison Avenue side of Marcus Garvey Park near the Basketball Court.

This Pop Up Art Installation is brought to you by the Carousel Project and co-sponsored by the Marcus Garvey Park Alliance in collaboration with the Mount Morris Park Community Improvement Association.
