Quote Of The Day: “…LGBTQ Brothers And Sisters … Have Been Given Second Class Status”

April 29, 2015

Melissa_Mark-ViveritoThis statement was made by By Harlem Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito in her Confirmation of Loretta Lynch as U.S. Attorney General this week.

“Marriage Equality is a human right all should have, regardless of whatever state or territory you may live. For too long, our LGBTQ brothers and sisters across the country have been given second class status in numerous states and territories by harmful and backwards laws designed to denigrate them just because of who they love. No more. The Supreme Court has a chance to fix this injustice and it is my hope the court sides with loving couples across the country who wish to marry.”
