Riverside Church Hosts Jeremiah Wright in Speaker Series

Dr. Jeremiah Wright is one of the nation’s most well-known prophetic preachers.  During his tenure as pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, the congregation became the fastest growing in the denomination.  Trinity UCC Church became a model of a spiritually and socially relevant congregation.  Dr. Wright is a musicologist, linguist, community organizer, and author of numerous books and articles.  Since his retirement from Trinity UCC Church he has been in great demand all across the country as a revivalist and social justice consultant.  He is the founding spirit of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference which seeks to inspire and empower clergy and laity for prophetic ministry.

Prophetic Voices at The Riverside Church is a dynamic speaker series created to serve as a platform to address economic justice issues plaguing our nation. One Sunday each month, Riverside will welcome a special guest speaker who is the foremost authority on issues ranging from education inequality and immigration to healthcare and low-wage workers. Riverside’s aim is to not limit our view or our message, but to serve as a powerful moral voice to our nation’s most pressing problems.
