Riverside Park View Of Navy Ships Harlem NY 1915 (Photographs)

November 22, 2017

Photographed by Walter L. Bogert on a mound at Riverside Park, with two views from the “northern extremity” of Morningside Heights from 123rd to 129th Streets in Harlem, looking across the Hudson River from behind the Pergola to the Palisades of New Jersey, on May 10, 1915.

The images were photographed at the Pergula (aka “Recreation Pier”) along the West Harlem coastline.

The second photograph above was taken from the same place as the first image of the ships laying anchor amid a stream of vessels of the U.S. Navy on display (from this angle looking north Grants Tomb and The Claremont Inn sits to the right of the photographer).
