Robber Strikes Twice On Harlem Street Corner

May 7, 2018

Patch reports that the NYPD is trying to identify a man who robbed two people on the same East Harlem street corner, police said.

Both robberies occurred late last month on the corner of East 106th Street and Fifth avenue, police said. The corner is located across the street from Central Park and near many museums, medical facilities and apartment buildings.

The first robbery occurred the night of April 21, police said. A 22 year-old man was walking on the street when he was approached by the accused robber, police said. The robber threatened the man at gunpoint and demanded his property, police said. The man handed over a wallet, which contained credit cards, and his Samsung Galaxy cellphone.

The robber returned to the same street corner one week later to strike again, police said. This time, the robber engaged a 24-year-old man in conversation on the street. When the man responded, the robber punched him in the face, police said. After the punch, the robber took the man’s iPhone 6 Plus as well as his wallet and credit cards, police said.

The victim in the second robbery was taken to an area hospital for contusions to the head and face, police said.

The robber is described as a man standing about 5-foot-7 and weighing about 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie with brown Timberland boots, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
