Salters Scene: 2nd Annual All Star Code Summer Benefit

The 2nd Annual All Star Code (ASC) Benefit took place on July 25th in the Hamptons. All Star Code is a non-profit organization founded in 2013 by Christina Lewis Halpern, a 2014 Echoing Green Fellowship Finalist, a 2014 White House STEM Access Champion of Change, and daughter of Reginald and Loida Lewis.

ASC is dedicated to providing mentorship, industry exposure, and intensive computer science training to under-represented high school boys of color. Through a foundation of computer science training and interpersonal skill development, All Star Code’s mission is to attract, prepare and place these talented, young men in the tech career pipeline.

The sold out benefit raised more than $600,000. During the cocktail hour Christina Lewis announced that ASC received a major donation from AT&T through AT&T Aspire. The funds will provide seven All Star Code students, who will be named AT&T scholars, with scholarships, free laptops and supplies.

This year’s honorees were Frank A Baker Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Siris Capital Group with the Visionary Award, Senior Engineering Director at Google Marcus Mitchell with the Community Award and Goldman Sachs Gives with the Corporate Leadership Award accepted by ASC Benefit Co-Chair Valentino D. Carlotti accepted the award on behalf of Goldman Sachs Gives.

After the formal presentation guests enjoyed the sounds of DJ Mick and interacted with ASC students at their game stations which displayed the computer programming skills
