Sam Smith And Mary J Sing ‘Stay With Me’ At The Apollo

June 24, 2014

mary j an sam smithSam Smith has been making a lot of his dreams come true. The British soul singer took over the famed Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York, on Tuesday, June 17th, 2014, the same day his In The Lonely Hour album was released.

Instead of being intimidated by the venue, Smith wowed, silenced and shocked audiences for just over an hour.

For someone who told “Good Morning America” that he “used to watch Luther Vandross clips of him singing there [Apollo Theater] as a kid,” it truly was a night for him to remember.

But it got even sweeter when the MTV Artist to Watch was greeted by a very special guest, Mary J. Blige, who joined him onstage for a duet of “Stay With Me.”

After the crowd pretty much freaked out, Blige and Smith traded powerful vocals, giving each other a big hug at the end of the heartfelt ballad.
