Today represents what would have been the 85th birthday of Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,. People assembled from all over the city to help celebrate this legend.

seitus world 5Angela Davis was the key note speaker that discussed how the struggle has not changed for the better because South Africa is very much ahead of the US in resolving race relations. She also address that fact that it has only been 113 years since physical slavery in NY State.seitus world 3Borough President Eric Adams reiterated the idea of one Brooklyn for all people treated the same and that goal as a public servant for the Brooklynites.

seitus world 4Senator Charles “Chuck” Schumer backed up Eric Adams and added that better community relations between the NYPD and New Yorkers should be a goal.

seitus world 6Rudy Crew, President of Medgar Evers College stress the power of education to change ones social and economic condition.

seitus world 7Both mayor elect de Blasio and the first lady supported the call for all with equal treatment.

seitus world 8East Harlem City council member Melissa Mark-Viverito and the new Speaker of the New York City Council echoed this view from East Harlem to Brooklyn.
