FOX has launched a national screening tour for the highly-anticipated new series “Shots Fired,” created by Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood and starring Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Mack Wilds and Helen Hunt.

Launched February 15, the tour has screened for influencer audiences in Chicago, Detroit and Charlotte and will continue on to Nashville, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., New York and Los Angeles in the days leading up to its March 22, 8/7c premiere on FOX.

In Chicago, over 200 guests attended the screening at AMC River East 21. After a pre-event reception, FOX 32 reporter Jake Hamilton greeted the audience followed by a message from Reggie Bythewood delivered by FOX publicist Jessica Wilson. “Shots” cast member Aisha Hinds and executive producer Francie Calfo were on hand to participate in a post-screening Q&A including Northwestern University professor E. Patrick Johnson and moderated by Ebony Magazine managing editor Kathy Chaney.

On Monday in Detroit, locals packed the Emagine Royal Oak Theater to preview “Shots Fired” and meet cast members Aisha Hinds and DeWanda Wise. FOX 2 reporter Jay Towers cheerfully welcomed the crowd followed by a video message from Reggie Bythewood. After the screening, Detroit Free Press columnist Rochelle Riley moderated a Q&A with Hinds and Wise, who talked about the origins of their roles on the show, how they became involved and why “Shots” is important work that “moves them.”

On Wednesday in Charlotte, nearly 300 influencers came out to Studio Movie Grill to see the finished product of the show that was filmed in the area. Cast members Mack Wilds and DeWanda Wise were in attendance along with singers Anthony Hamilton and Sunshine Anderson – both featured on the “Shots Fired” soundtrack (Sunshine has a cameo in the first episode) – Dutchess (VH1’s “Black Ink Crew”), guitarist Darnell Taylor, author Omar Tyree, civil rights activist Bro. John C. Barnett, Chewy (92.7FM The Block), Miss Jessica (Power 98), Beasy Baybie (Hot 103.9), DJ Skillz, Coretta Livingston (Radio One Charlotte), model Lee Barney and numerous “Shots Fired” extras and crew members.

Radio personality and NBA Charlotte Hornets arena announcer Derrick “Fly Ty” Jacobs gave a high-energy welcome to the audience followed by remarks from FOX 46 anchor Brien Blakely. After the screening, Fly Ty moderated a Q&A with Wilds and Wise, who both thanked Charlotte for being such a welcoming, loving community during filming.

#ShotsFired premieres March 22, 2017 at 8/7c on FOX, prior to the spring return of “Empire” at 9/8c.
