Spike Lee Honored At George Faison Award Ceremony

harlem event with spike lee and moreSpike Lee and singer Valerie Simpson were on hand Thursday night as Emmy and Tony award winning choreographer, George Faison, received the vision award at Sound Business Inc’s first annual gala.

Simpson presented Faison with the award at the legendary Harlem Stage in front of more than 150 well-appointed guests.

Faison became the first African American to win a Tony for his work choreographing The Wiz. He also won an Emmy in 1991 for choreography of the HBO film The Josephine Baker Story.  For the last 15 years Faison has been helping young people experience drama and dance at his eponymous theatre in a renovated Harlem firehouse.
