This discussion series will take place throughout the year and all artists, entrepreneurs, businesspersons of an independent spirit and all interested parties are invited to attend. The first discussion in the series, “Branding: You Are Your Brand”, will take place on Saturday, February 20th, 1-4PM at IMAGENATION’S RAW SPACE, 2031 Adam Clayton Powell Blvd. (7th Ave. Between 121st and 122nd) just a few short blocks from Harlem’s World famous Apollo Theater.

The discussion will be led by a panel of business and entertainment industry veterans including:

Robert Smoot – CEO, Brencore Entertainment – a Concert Development and Promotions resource that prides itself on standing out with its clientele by providing top quality, professional and efficient services; and with the event attendees by creating for them an event that is fun and memorable. They specialize in tribute concerts that they have produced to sold out audiences in Washington DC, Maryland and other locations in the DMV area.

Charmaine DaCosta – Founder and CEO of Crude Food, a catering company and manufacturer of Limation Limeade.Charmaine started her professional life as a singer/songwriter and founding member of reggae girl-group Worl-A-Girl, a dancehall reggae group signed to Chaos/Columbia Records and then East/West Records label. With Malik Yoba and Worl-A-Girl, DaCosta co-wrote the Jamaica Bobsled Chant for the Cool Runnings movie soundtrack. Charmaine introduced taste buds to a refreshing beverage called Limation in Spring 2014. Winner of the Harlem Business Alliance’s 5th Annual Business Plan Competition, DaCosta is on her way to making Limation a household name.

Hasan Brown – Puzzle Marketing & Media – A publicity, Marketing, Event Planning, Branding expert who prides himself on his reputation of creating momentum for his clients. Hasan has helped launch urban initiatives for various Restaurants and Lounges, Newspapers, Hotels & Resorts, Festivals/Concerts, On-air Radio Personalities, Record Labels and more. He currently is responsible for the B.Walker shoes campaign.

Dr. Syleecia Thompson – Teacher, Manager, Independent Label President, and Author – Dr.Syleecia Thompson is founder and owner of DYG Management Group. A full-service Management, Entertainment, Consulting and Artist Development conglomerate. DYG Management Group acts include Syleena Johnson, Sean Black and J.Hollins. Dr. Thompson is President of Independent label Aneelys Records and is also the author of “Rhythm Without Blues: The Dichotomy of a Music Genre.” plus she is a Professor at Berklee College.
