Streams of Consciousness: A Movement Narrative At The Schomburg In Harlem

9cdd8ec9-c930-49a5-a6a4-e663a08dc359This program, co presented by CCCADI and The Schomburg Center for Research,  is a dance anthology exploring the cultural and ecological importance of water and probing the spiritual mandate, in the nature based esoteric traditions of the African Diaspora, to preserve this and other natural resources.Paloma McGregor’s ensemble presents an excerpt from her lyrical piece, “How to Build a Better Fishtrap”.  Michael Manswell of Something Positive tells a dance-tale about the relationship between primordial water and the original human.  Members of Afro Mosaic Soul presents a deepgroove freestyle that explores “community flow” in their choreographical approach.  A post-performance conversation featuring members of the presenting dance companies will be hosted by acclaimed choreographer, Marlies Yearby.
