Uptown Summer 2016 Scandinavian Music Festival Concert Series

inwood classic music festivalNow in its 12th year, NY Scandia Symphony has served Washington Heights and Inwood with free outdoor music programs in Fort Tryon Park. Bring a blanket and enjoy the concert with the backdrop of the Hudson River and Palisades.

Sunday, June 12:
A “Concerto Program”, featuring work by Johan Helmich Roman, Lars-Erik Larsson, Christian Sinding will be performed. A “Serenade” by Svend S. Schultz and the “ Holberg Suite” by Edvard Grieg will also be presented.

Sunday, June 19:
Danish and Norwegian opera singers Thomas Storm and Mette-Maria Oyen will present “Songs of Scandinavia”, featuring composers Ture Rangstrom, C.E.F. Weyse, Poul Heise, Carl Nielsen, Edvard Grieg and Jean Sibelius. The artists will educate the audience on the history, culture and anecdotes relating to their repertoire.

Sunday, June 26:
The Scandia Brass Quintet will perform their popular repertoire of contemporary and traditional compositions and arrangements, representing music from each of the five Scandinavian countries, including five national anthems.
