October 29, 2016

tj-maxxT.J. Maxx, a retailer that has long touted lower pricing for expensive department store clothing, is coming to Harlem next month.

The newest storefront plans to open November 10, 2016 at 5 West 125th Street, steps away from Marcus Garvey Park and the 125th Street subway station.

The Harlem location will be TJ Maxx’s sixth store in Manhattan and 20th store across the five boroughs.

Around 60 full-time and part-time jobs will be available at the new store, TJ Maxx said in a news release.

“We are pleased to provide a new store in Harlem, delivering value and an exciting selection of merchandise to serve the needs of customers,” said Richard Sherr, President of T.J.Maxx. “With thousands of new items from top designers and brands arriving in stores weekly from around the world, shoppers will discover a new store full of amazing values every time they visit.”

TJ Maxx announced it would support the Harlem community by donating $5,000 to Safe Horizon, a nonprofit that provides assistance and support to victims of violence and abuse in New York.

The store’s grand opening is scheduled to take place Nov. 10 at 8 a.m. with a ribbon cutting at 7:30 a.m.
