On Tuesday, vendors from upstate farms brought fresh fruits, vegetables, dried fruits, baked goods, honey and plants to the plaza in front of Adam Clayton Powell State Building on 125th and the corner of Adam Clayton Powell Blvd. Everything was affordable since it came directly from the farm! Look out for the Farmers Market running on Tuesdays until mid-November. Continue reading

1. Make My Cake, $5  (on the corner of 116 Street and Nicholas Avenue)

I truly love their red velvet cheesecake. It is tooooo die for. It has a thin red velvet cake layer with swirls of red velvety goodness in the cheesecake.  Tastes like heaven! I was introduced to it for my birthday dinner party last year by a friend.  Now, it has become a birthday tradition and staple for me.

Watching The Memorial In Harlem

adamPowellIf they couldn’t be at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, they wanted to be where it all began, in the heart of Harlem, less than a few steps from the Apollo Theatre where Michael Jackson and his brothers first burst onto the music scene.

There were only a thousand fans, but they stood outside of the Adam Clayton Powell State Building on 125th Street enrapt by a scene of admiration. The jumbotron offered the live broadcast of the tribute. As this community of people stood sharing each moment with others who understood their love for the pop idol and what his music means to them.
