These images are from Harlem in the 1980′s, taken by Camilo Vargera, back in the day. When I look at these images they beg the question of what is better the 1980′s or gentrification? Yes, we were not happy with the past and we’re not happy with the present…

…and we pray for better future, let’s be more specific. The music over the images are by Bobby Womack’s 110th Street. These images remind us why Harlem is such a tough wonderful village.
