Jets Agree To Make Ryan Coach?

Baltimore defensive coordinator expected to be formally introduced as New York’s new head coach at a news conference Wednesday.

The New York Jets reached an agreement with Rex Ryan on Monday to make the Baltimore defensive coordinator their head coach, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press.

The person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the four-year deal was not yet finalized, said it was expected to be done in the next few days.

The 46-year-old Mr. Ryan replaces the fired Eric Mangini. Mr. Ryan takes over a team that started last season 8-3 but missed the playoffs with quarterback Brett Favre after losing four of its last five games.

Mr. Ryan is expected to be formally introduced at a news conference Wednesday at the Jets’ facility in Florham Park, N.J.

Donovan McNabb and his Philadelphia Eagles get another week to keep chasing that elusive Super Bowl crown. Eli Manning and the New York Giants get a whole offseason to wonder what went wrong.

McNabb made all the big plays that Manning did not, and the Eagles eliminated the Super Bowl champions 23-11 Sunday to reach the NFC title game for the fifth time in eight seasons.

Season Over For Giants WR Burress

Plaxico Burress reported to Giants Stadium to learn his season is over.

The New York Giants placed Burress on the reserve/non-football injury list Tuesday, officially ending his season.

The anticipated move came one day after Burress was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a Manhattan nightclub the previous weekend. Continue reading →
