Harlem Dowling West Side Center for Children & Families Honors its Youth with Fundraiser In East Hampton HD Board President, Jaye Smith who long ago opened her heart to the agency’s overall mission of providing quality service to children and their families, recently celebrated her birthday by honoring Harlem Dowling’s after school participants who once again took the covenant cover prize in the annual citywide Comic Book Project.

Taking its lead from the Colored Orphan Asylum founders Anna Shotwell and Mary Murray, who in the 1830’s gathered groups of friends and associates in their homes to address the growing concern for the care of colored orphans, Harlem Dowling West Side Center (HDWC) board member Tim Mulvaney and his life partner Stephen J. Kozuch hosted an exclusive cocktail party honoring Harlem Dowling’s 2008 Gala Award recipients at their midtown abode. Continue reading
