Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. (MMC) honored two of its executives – Clare Collins-Newton of Mercer and Rachel Perry of Marsh – at the YMCA’s 40th Annual National Salute to Black Achievers in Industry Awards (bai), held last week at the New York Marriott Marquis. Mercer’s Eric Hutcherson, a bai alum, was also presented with the Elaine Edmonds Award for his demonstrated drive and energy in bringing the business and community service worlds together, to the benefit of both. Harlem YMCA’s Academy Of Black Achievers Award

harlemymcaA Cambria Heights resident who works for Time Warner Cable was honored by the Harlem YMCA last week for his community involvement, the company said.

Michael Skinner, a Cambria Heights man who has worked at Time Warner’s Flushing office for 15 years, was inducted into the Harlem YMCA’s Academy of Black Achievers and was given a Black Achiever Award by the group during a ceremony last month at the New York Marriott Marquis.

Skinner produces and hosts community−based talk radio shows for Adelphi University and Medgar Evers College, Time Warner said.

The Cambria Heights resident was one of 34 people honored at the March 15 event.

Other honorees included Clarence B. Jones, a speechwriter who helped craft Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech; the Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts III, pastor of the Abyssinian Baptist Church; and Butts’ wife, Patricia Butts.
