The Institute for Urban and Minority Education & Tisdale Studio Launch Harlem AIDS Blanket An Out-of-School-Time Community Education & Awareness Project

Harlem, NY , December 1, 2009 – In recognition of World AIDS Day and AIDS Awareness Month, the Institute for Urban and Minority Education ( IUME ) at Teachers College, Columbia University and Tisdale Studio in Harlem are proud to announce the launch of the Harlem AIDS Blanket, a community education and arts project.

The Harlem AIDS Blanket is an out-of-school-time art education project aimed at raising awareness about HIV/AIDS in Harlem and beyond; strengthening public support and commitment to HIV/AIDS education, community empowerment, and arts appreciation; and building partnerships with local organizations, businesses, residents, celebrities, and elected officials who have demonstrated interest in AIDS education in the Harlem community.
