American Ballet Theatre celebrates its 70th Anniversary this season, and included in the festivities is the company premiere of John Neumeier’s Lady Of The Camellias. The full-length ballet is based on the novel and stage play La Dame aux Camelias by Alexandre Dumas fils. The ballet was originally choreographed for the Stuttgart Ballet in 1978, a year after the death of Artistic Director John Cranko. Thanks to Mr. Neumeier’s ingenious staging and engaging choreography this masterwork immediately sweeps one into the opulent and romantic world of 19th century Paris. Continue reading
