Walter’s World: Fire Island Dance Festival 17

The Fire Island Dance Festival 17 took place on Friday July 15th through Sunday July 17th at the palatial waterfront home of Jon Biondo, Tim Horrman and Ryan Coutu.

The residence located in The Pines was converted into an outdoor theatre, complete with a raised stage and tiered proscenium seating. The three day, four-performance festival is a major component in the fundraising efforts of Dancers Responding To AIDS; a program of Broadway Cares. Continue reading

Walter’s World: Ailey II Studio Showing

July 7, 2010 marked the beginning of an extensive touring season for Ailey II; the tour will include 49 cities in North America and Europe. The Company is presently enjoying unprecedented popularity, establishing itself as an important modern dance company in it’s own right. On October 5, just eight days after returning from performances in the Northeastern United States, Austria, and France, Ailey II gave an informal studio showing of two new works in the Ailey Citigroup Theater.

Walter’s World: Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center

The Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center (THPAC) presented Souls of Our Feet: People of Color Dance Festival June 22- 24, 2010 at the Kumble Theater on the campus of Long Island University in downtown Brooklyn. The festival showcased seven choreographers in three performances. The series offered diverse and rich programs ranging from pure dance/abstraction to theatrical and story based choreography; while providing an exciting and vital forum for new and emerging artists to have their works professionally mounted and presented.
