In the world of fine art a painter can be identified by his or her brush strokes. As individual as a fingerprint they are more defining than a signature. Some might say they are the artist’s soul; they possess the distinct characteristics that draw us to this person and their work. When the forces align to create the “perfect storm” we acclaim this phenomenon “art”, and acknowledge the creator with the title artist (unfortunately the word artist is generally under-rated and over-used).

Walter’s World: Ailey’s Encore Performances At BAM

The twentieth year anniversary celebration for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Artistic Director Judith Jamison continues with a ten-day, encore performance series at the Howard Gilman Opera House in the Brooklyn Academy of Music, which located at 30 Lafayette Avenue. The twelve performances by the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre begin on Thursday June 10th. This will be the last opportunity to see the Ailey Company in the New York area prior to the fall City Center season.

The annual Ailey At The Apollo Spring Gala Benefit Performance took place Tuesday May 4, 2010. The world famous Apollo Theater literally rolled out the red carpet for the 6:30pm “photo- op” prior to the 7pm curtain. Toyota Avalon was the official partner on the red carpet.
