Melba Stars In New Food Network Show ‘Fat Chef’

A new batch of chefs is joining the Food Network later this month starring Harlem Chef Melba, but they won’t be doing much cooking. Instead, the group of chefs deemed “fat” will be a part of Fat Chef, a Biggest Loser-type program, focusing on helping twelve professional chefs lose weight while improving their mental and physical health. It doesn’t sound like the show will be competitive, though, a-la-Biggest Loser. Continue reading

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones Eats At Melba’s In Harlem

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asking for black-eyed peas for luck — but couldn’t get any — while dining at Melba’s in Harlem before Sunday’s game against the Giants. Jones asked for the traditional Southern New Year’s Day meal of collard greens (to represent money) and black-eyed peas (for luck), but staff at the West 114th Street eatery “omitted the luck portion of the meal.” Owner Melba Wilson said, “I feel a little guilty. I only had mixed rice and peas. Jerry was with 14 family members and was very warm and kind. On his way out, he gave me a hug and said he wished we had the black-eyed peas because he needed luck.” She added, “But, after all, I bleed blue.” Continue reading
