Harlem World Magazine welcomes the 28th Precinct’s new commander, Capt. Kevin Williams. During yesterdays community meeting at Touro College residents greeted him with their concerns in his first meeting with the community.

I write on behalf of Manhattan Community Board 10 regarding the paper’s August 12, 2011 article by John Leland, entitled “A Summer Idyll, and Then Three Bullets.” We believe the article contained misinformation and unfairly portrayed Community Board 10, and request the paper correct the story.
With park resources stretched so thin and more budget and personnel cuts slated, every little bit we can do to help is important. Join us in a cleanup project which will start at the Field House in the park at 123rd Street and proceed through the park. Bags and gloves will be provided but be sure to wear work clothing. We know that many of you have expressed an interest in volunteering. Here’s a great opportunity to help out. Continue reading

The next Community Council meeting for the 28th precinct will be held on Wednesday, July 13th, at 6:30. The meetings are held at the 28th precinct house.
This is a good opportunity to discuss the recent shootings and other crimes, and quality-of-life issues – noise, littering, the condition of Morningside Park after the weekend barbecues, and so on. Continue reading
