Naomi Campbell Nude (Again) On British GQ Cover

GQ promises its story will explain what the heck, exactly, Campbell was thinking on the stand at Charles Taylor‘s trial, but we’re not expecting much given the mag didn’t press her on the subject during their last interview. In Vogue UK Naomi also swears she totally didn’t perjure herself, and neither did her lawyer or her manager, when she was deposed in her long-running perfume royalties lawsuit with her former agent. Naomi would never do that, you guys, says Naomi.

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund held its 4th Annual Front Row fashion show October 25th at the Roseland Ballroom.  This year The View’s Sherri Shepherd held down  the hosting  duties.  Sherri lit up the room as soon as she stepped on the red carpet.  Also, in the building participating in the award ceremony was Thurgood Marshall’s son Jonathan Marshall.

More than 650 HBCU students attended the 4th Annual Front Row fashion show, and with the rest of the guests were excited about seeing this year’s honorees. Rounding out this year’s impressive group of people were Michael Jackson (represented by Marlon Jackson)- 2009 Avant-Garde Award,  F.I.T. President Dr. Joyce Brown-2009 Fashion Icon Award,  Supermodel Naomi Campbell-2009 Fashion Icon Award, Celebrity Make-Up Artist Sam Fine-2009 Fashion Icon Award and Celebrity Hair Stylist Andre Walker-2009 Fashion Icon Award.

Once the last honoree received his award, the fashion show was ready to go.  But first the musical duo Nuttin’ But Stringz, provided an unbelievable musical interlude.  These two brothers from Queens New York are remarkable violin players.  For those in the audience who missed Nuttin’ But Stringz recent appearances, on the Tavis Smiley Show and the Monique Show, was in awe.  After completing their performance, they received a standing ovation.

DJ Clark Kent cued up the music and the fashions were coming down the runway.  The 4th Annual Front Row fashion show featured designs by Amsale Aberra, Ana Segura, Byron Lars, Angela Dean, Frances Hendy, Kai Milla, Paco Rogiene, Montgomery, Nico & Adrian, Russell Simmons and George Davies (Walmart).

All of the fashions were received well by the audience, but the Montgomery line definitely stood out from the pack.  When the Fela Kuti music began playing you can see people had edged up in their seats. After designer, Montgomery Harris, walked down the runway the audience was on their feet.

It was another great night for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and all of the students the organization impacts.

The ‘H’ man Brings The Heat In Harlem

Books

hickson2H is for Heat.  H is for Harlem.  H is for Hickson, a native of Harlem with an ear for the heated stories of the inner city and with a few tales of his own.  “Harlem is where the heart is,” Hickson says, willing to talk just about everything but his first name (which, at least for now, remains a mystery).

He graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1998, with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications.  While attending college on a full-time basis, Hickson also worked as a freelance stylist, a job that led to a wardrobe coordinator position with Audrey Swaltz and the Ground Crew, a recognized backstage management team.  It was here that he was put in charge of coordinating catwalk queen Naomi Campbell’s outfits.
