Abdel Salaam is having a banner year.  The artistic director and choreographer of Forces of Nature Dance Theatre is celebrating the company’s thirtieth anniversary. This summer his company, Forces of Nature Dance Theatre had the distinction of being the first dance company to perform at the new Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in Marcus Garvey Park, in conjunction with City Parks Foundation Summer Stage. Walter’s World: Trav’lin- The New 1930’s Harlem Musical

One of the highlights of the New York Musical Theatre Festival was Trav’lin the new 1930’s Harlem musical.

The musical featured the music and lyrics of J.C. Johnson. Johnson was a jazz composer and lyricist who is respected within the industry, but has not received the same renowned as many of his contemporaries.
