Former Giants receiver Plaxico Burress strolled out of jail Monday wearing a Philadelphia Phillies cap and a big smile after 20 months behind bars on gun charges.

“It’s a beautiful day,” Burress said as he left the medium-security Oneida Correctional Facility in upstate Rome. “It’s a beautiful day to be reunited with my family. I want to go home and spend some quality time with them.” Continue reading →

NYC Grand Jury indicts NY Giants Burress

Plaxico BurressFormer New York Giants star Plaxico Burress(notes) was indicted by a grand jury on weapons charges for shooting himself in the thigh at a Manhattan nightclub and faces a minimum prison sentence of 3 1/2 years if convicted, prosecutors announced Monday.

The indictment charged the 31-year-old Burress with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of reckless endangerment, Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau said.
