Facebook: Poll Shows NY’s Angry Over Senate Coup

Politics

From Savonia Bailey

A new poll says 77% of New York voters are angry that the state Senate didn’t pass any legislation during a power struggle that paralyzed the chamber for more than a month.

The Siena College poll says 62% of registered voters think most New Yorkers will remember the June 8 political coup and subsequent fight when they go to the polls in 2010.

Fifty-five percent of voters don’t believe the battle will lead to any significant reforms in how the Senate does business. Only 36% think it will. Most voters — 78% — have less confidence in state government because of the political ordeal.

The phone survey of 623 registered voters was conducted from last Monday through Thursday. The poll released Monday has a margin of error of about 4%.
