St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center

St. Luke’s was founded in 1846 and started admitting patients in 1858. Since 1858, St. Luke’s has been bringing world-class clinical care to our local community. St. Luke’s is an academic affiliate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.

In 1979, a merger brought together St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals, and with it an extraordinary record of medical “firsts” and patient commitment. And in 1997, St. Luke’s and Roosevelt joined with Beth Israel Medical Center to form Continuum Health Partners. Today, the legacy continues as St. Luke’s continues to dedicate itself to the high-quality care of its patients.

The photo above is from the new Institute for Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. Located on the 4th floor of the main Babcock Building (1111 Amsterdam Avenue at 114th Street) the new facility offers advanced equipment, an education center and other cutting-edge technology that enables an interdisciplinary team of caregivers to provide an enhanced experience for patients. At this new location, patients are able to see their physicians, nurse practitioners, nutritionists, dieticians and other team members under one roof. Support groups, psycho-education courses and patient orientation sessions are also held in the space.
