Giants, Jets bid for NY’s Super Bowl

New Jersey’s bid to host the 2014 Super Bowl is signed, sealed and about to be delivered.

The owners of the New York Jets and New York Giants on Wednesday signed the official bid that will be sent to all 32 NFL owners. The owners will vote May 25 on whether East Rutherford, Miami or Tampa will be the host. Continue reading →

Why Is Winter Olympics Not Popular For Black TV Viewers?

The Winter Olympics traditionally have never been big with black TV viewers, and this year is apparently not going to be the exception. The Opening Ceremony, which typically draws the largest audience, attracted 1.6 million black viewers, and made No.8 on the chart of Top 25 shows for the week. But that wasn’t even close to the 2.9 million Fox’s American Idol had to claim the top spot. It remains to be seen how many tuned in to see African-American speed skater Shani Davis’ gold medal win in the 1000 meters race. Continue reading →

Giants Win Super Bowl Rings Back

Authorities say they have found 27 New York Giants Super Bowl rings, valued at more than $170,000, stolen last June from a Massachusetts jewelry manufacturer.

The Essex District Attorney’s office said investigators found the rings Tuesday in a bank safe deposit box in Saugus. Prosecutors said 22-year-old Kristen Sullivan, who allegedly rented the box, was being held on a charge of receiving stolen property and would be arraigned Wednesday.
