The Faison Firehouse Theater’s production of Accept “Except” LGBT NY began its two plus week run on Thursday June 21. The two-character play was written by Karimah and is directed by George Faison. It is based upon the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution and was first presented with a male cast. This new rendition keeps the initial premise of injustice for just “being” intact, but opens the message of tolerance and understanding to a new demographic. Continue reading

Walter’s World: Film Premiere at Faison Firehouse Theater

The Faison Firehouse Theater, located at 6 Hancock Place, in Harlem, will host the highly anticipated red carpet film premiere of The Skinny on Wednesday, June 6th at 7:00pm. It is the third feature film from independent filmmaker Patrik-Ian Polk (Punks, Noah’s Arc) and will be presented during the First Annual Pride Cultural Series. The proceeds from this event will benefit GMAD’s (Gay Men of African Decent) Charles Angel Youth Leadership Academy’s ‘Stop the BS’ campaign, which is an anti gay-bullying and suicide initiative.
