I believe that anything that is truly memorable in our lives is an evolution and doesn’t happen over night. The Broadway hit musical Memphis, winner of four Tony Awards including Best Musical, started the arduous road to Broadway acclaim over seven years ago. Who Looked More Bangin, Aretha Franklin … or Aretha Franklin?!

Aretha Franklin wore the same dress she wore to the Tony awards Sunday night to the Apollo Theater Awards Monday night. She accessorized with the same necklace, boa, and shoes, but changed her hair. This is awesome, because honestly, wearing the same thing two nights in a row is not some freakish thing — who hasn’t worn the same thing they wore on a Friday out again on Saturday because they were going out with different people and the outfit happened not to smell too badly of cigarette smoke and sweat? Divas can get away with almost anything.

Salters Scene: Fela! On Broadway Original Cast Recording Release Party

On Monday June 7, cast members of the Broadway hit Fela! were in the mix at Brooklyn Bowl for the official Fela! On Broadway Original Cast Recording Release Party presented by the Knitting Factory.  The two individuals who have taken on the huge responsibility of bringing Fela Anikulapo-Kuti to life in the play, Tony Award Nominated Sahr Ngaujah and Kevin Mambo were front and center greeting and mingling with guests.  Cast members Iris Wilson and Tony Award Nominated Lillias White also joined in the festivities early on saying hello to everyone and posing for pictures.
